HOW TO PLAY: THE BASICS
Learn all the basics of Ultimate 8 Ball Pool in this quick guide!
AIMING
Aiming your shots is as simple as moving the cue stick left or right to determine the path the cue ball will take. You can touch anywhere on the screen to manipulate the cue stick to the desired position; you can also tap on a specific ball to jump your target line to that ball. Once you have found the line you want, it’s time to take the actual shot by pulling down on the cue stick and setting the Power—scroll down to the next section to learn more about Power!

POWER
Power is the force used to strike the cue ball. It ranges from 1-100 for each individual Cue Stick—the higher the number, the harder your shot will be. The power bar is located on the left side of your screen by default, but it can be changed to the right side under the Settings tab. Power affects spin as well—the harder you hit the ball, the more effective the spin. Once you reach the power you desire, simply release your finger from the screen to take your shot!

TAP TO ZOOM
After you've adjusted your aim, you have the option to zoom in to the table level to fine tune any adjustments. One tap anywhere on the screen and you'll be at table-level, looking directly behind the point of contact between the cue ball and target ball! An additional tap and you exit the zoomed in view. NOTE: in order to use the zoom feature, your cue ball must be positioned to make contact with a target ball before hitting a rail.

CAMERA VIEWS
There are 2 different camera views in 8 Ball Smash: Topdown (2D) or 3D. Use the camera icon in the bottom left corner to toggle between the two camera views. The 2D/Topdown view gives you a birdseye view of the entire table. The 3D view gives you a closer look at the balls on the table.

BALL IN HAND
If a foul is committed by the active player, the penalty is "ball in hand" for the incoming player. Ball in Hand means you are allowed to place the cue ball anywhere on the table (with the exception of fouls on the break, which result in "ball in hand" behind the head string) and shoot any of your balls (or the 8, if all your balls have been pocketed). If you have the ball in hand but are not satisfied with your initial placement of the cue ball, you can make further adjustments even after you first place the cue ball on the table.
